The factory 6.7L Power Stroke airbox and intake tube prioritize noise control and emissions compliance over peak flow. A properly designed cold air intake routes cooler, denser air into the turbo inlet and reduces restriction through a higher-flow filter media — both contribute to improved airflow, especially once other supporting modifications are in place.
Most bolt-on cold air intakes for the 6.7L Power Stroke are direct replacements for the factory airbox and intake tube. Installation time varies by generation and typically runs 45–90 minutes. On a lightly modified truck, a cold air intake alone often works within the factory calibration.
