6.7 Powerstroke
Cold Air Intake

Selection guide and installation service for the Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Super Duty diesel — covering 2011–2016, 2017–2019, and 2020–2025 generations. Installed at FAS Motorsports in Punta Gorda, FL.

Generation Coverage

6.7 Powerstroke Cold Air Intake — 2011–2025

The Ford Super Duty has run the 6.7L Power Stroke V8 diesel since 2011 across three major generations. Cold air intake fitment and calibration requirements vary by generation. Use the sections below to identify the correct information for your specific truck.

Gen 1 (Scorpion)

2011–2016

6.7L Power Stroke V8

First-generation 6.7L Power Stroke Super Duty. Factory airbox and intake tube are a documented restriction point once supporting mods (programmer, exhaust, injectors) are added. A high-flow cold air intake reduces intake restriction and pairs well with a tune revision on built trucks.

Gen 2

2017–2019

6.7L Power Stroke V8

Updated Gen 2 6.7L Power Stroke with a revised turbo and intake routing. Cold air intake upgrades on this generation are commonly paired with a piping kit upgrade for a full intake-path overhaul — see our Power Stroke piping kit for the companion upgrade.

Gen 3 / Gen 4

2020–2025

6.7L Power Stroke V8 (incl. High-Output)

Late-model Super Duty trucks, including the High-Output 6.7L variant. Intake fitment and required supporting hardware vary by trim and output level — confirm application fitment before ordering. FAS can advise on kit selection and installation for your specific truck.

Buyer Guide

What to Know Before Buying a Cold Air Intake for Your 6.7 Powerstroke

Airflow & Restriction

The factory 6.7L Power Stroke airbox and intake tube prioritize noise control and emissions compliance over peak flow. A properly designed cold air intake routes cooler, denser air into the turbo inlet and reduces restriction through a higher-flow filter media — both contribute to improved airflow, especially once other supporting modifications are in place.

Installation & Fitment

Most bolt-on cold air intakes for the 6.7L Power Stroke are direct replacements for the factory airbox and intake tube. Installation time varies by generation and typically runs 45–90 minutes. FAS Motorsports installs intakes as standalone work or as part of a larger diesel build at our Punta Gorda, FL shop.

Calibration Notes

On a lightly modified truck, a cold air intake alone often works within the factory calibration. On trucks running a programmer, injectors, or a built turbo, a calibration revision is recommended to properly account for the airflow change. FAS coordinates remote calibration support with the appropriate outside tuner when required — calibration is not performed in-house.

Intake Path vs. Piping Kit

A cold air intake replaces the factory airbox, tube, and filter ahead of the turbo inlet. This is a different upgrade than our 6.7L Power Stroke intake piping kit, which addresses the charge piping between the turbo, intercooler, and intake manifold. Many diesel builds run both for a complete intake-path upgrade.

Installation Service

Cold Air Intake Installation at FAS Motorsports

FAS Motorsports installs cold air intakes on Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Super Duty trucks at our Punta Gorda, FL shop. Whether you are adding an intake as a standalone upgrade or as part of a larger diesel build, we handle the installation and coordinate any required calibration support.

Our Power Stroke work spans the 2011–2025 model range across Gen 1, Gen 2, and Gen 3/4 (including High-Output) generations. We work with customers directly on kit selection — if you are unsure which intake fits your year or build level, call before ordering.

When calibration is required after an intake installation, FAS coordinates remote calibration support with an appropriate outside tuner through tune-file exchange and datalog review. Calibration is not performed in-house.

6.7 Powerstroke Cold Air Intake — FAQ

What is the best cold air intake for a 6.7 Powerstroke?

The best cold air intake for a 6.7L Power Stroke depends on your generation of Super Duty (2011–2016, 2017–2019, or 2020–2025) and your supporting modifications. For a street-driven truck, a properly designed high-flow cold air intake with a sealed, heat-shielded filter enclosure is the standard recommendation. FAS Motorsports can advise on kit selection for your specific model year and build level — contact us with your year, mileage, and current modifications.

Does a cold air intake require a tune on a 6.7 Powerstroke?

On a stock or lightly modified 6.7L Power Stroke, many cold air intakes work within the factory calibration. On trucks running a programmer, injectors, or turbo upgrades, a calibration revision is recommended to properly account for the airflow change. FAS coordinates remote calibration support with an outside tuner when required.

Is a cold air intake the same as the 6.7 Powerstroke piping kit?

No. A cold air intake replaces the factory airbox and intake tube ahead of the turbo inlet, while our 6.7L Power Stroke intake piping kit addresses the charge piping between the turbo, intercooler, and intake manifold. They solve different restriction points and can be run together as a full intake-path upgrade.

How much does a cold air intake help on a 6.7 Powerstroke?

Results depend on your generation, supporting modifications, and whether a calibration revision is performed. FAS does not claim specific horsepower or torque numbers for individual intake installations — build results depend on the full combination of parts and tuning.

Does FAS Motorsports install cold air intakes on Super Duty trucks?

Yes. FAS Motorsports installs cold air intakes on 6.7L Power Stroke Ford Super Duty trucks (2011–2025 model years) at our Punta Gorda, FL shop. Intakes can be installed as standalone work or paired with our Power Stroke piping kit as part of a larger diesel build. Contact us to discuss kit selection and schedule installation.

What model years of 6.7 Powerstroke does the cold air intake fit?

FAS works on 6.7L Power Stroke Super Duty trucks across Gen 1 (2011–2016), Gen 2 (2017–2019), and Gen 3/4 including the High-Output variant (2020–2025). Specific kit fitment varies by manufacturer and generation. Confirm your model year when ordering or contacting us — fitment notes are detailed on this page.
