IHI 2.7L
Supercharger Rebuild

Full rebuild service for the IHI twin-screw 2.7L supercharger in the Dodge Demon, Demon 170, and Hellcat Redeye High-Output. Ship us your blower — we rebuild it, flow-bench verify it, and ship it back in 3–5 business days.

The IHI 2.7L Twin-Screw — The Demon's Blower

The IHI 2.7L twin-screw is not the same unit as the standard Hellcat 2.4L TVS. It's a fundamentally different design — twin-screw rotors with higher displacement and higher boost capacity. The Demon made 840 hp stock. The Demon 170 made 1,025 hp on E85. The high-output IHI is the platform for 1,000+ WHP builds on the factory blower.

That same capability means more stress on internal components. The IHI bearings, seals, and rotors run harder than the standard Hellcat unit — especially on modified builds with aggressive pulley ratios. When it's time for a rebuild, the tolerances and experience required are specific to this platform.

FAS Motorsports has rebuilt IHI 2.7L units across all three generations: the 2018 Demon, the Redeye H.O., and the 2023 Demon 170. Ship it in — we know this blower.

Rebuild Triggers — When to Ship It In

  • ▸ Bearing noise — whine or grinding at idle or under boost
  • ▸ Boost pressure loss without tune changes
  • ▸ Metallic sounds under sustained boost load
  • ▸ Coolant or oil contamination inside the blower
  • ▸ Proactive rebuild at 40K–60K miles on modified builds

Rebuild vs. Replace

FAS will tell you which path makes sense after inspection. We won't charge you for a rebuild if the unit needs replacement. Call before shipping if you're not sure what you have.

IHI Rebuild — Common Questions

What is the IHI 2.7L supercharger and which cars use it?

The IHI twin-screw 2.7L supercharger is found in the Dodge Demon (2018), Dodge Demon 170 (2023), and the SRT High-Output Hellcat Redeye. It produces higher boost pressure than the standard 2.4L TVS unit and is a fundamentally different design — twin-screw rotors vs. the TVS roots-style unit. The 2.7L is the platform for builds chasing 1,000+ WHP on the factory blower.

When does an IHI supercharger need to be rebuilt?

Rebuild indicators: bearing noise (whine or grinding at idle or under boost), boost creep or pressure loss without tune changes, rotor-to-housing contact (metallic sounds under boost), or any blower that has had coolant or oil contamination. On high-power builds running aggressive pulley ratios, proactive rebuilds at 40,000–60,000 miles are common practice.

What does the FAS IHI rebuild include?

Full disassembly, inspection, rotor pack cleaning and clearance check, bearing replacement, seal replacement, discharge and inlet port cleanup, housing inspection for wear or scoring, reassembly, and flow-bench verification. Every unit is tested before ship-back. Turnaround is 3–5 business days.

Can I send my blower in for a rebuild without pulling the whole engine?

Yes — this is a ship-in service. Pull the supercharger from the car, ship it to FAS Motorsports at 6161 Riverside Dr, Punta Gorda, FL 33982. Call before shipping to confirm current lead time and get prep instructions. We rebuild it and ship it back ready to bolt on.

Should I rebuild or replace the IHI 2.7L?

Rebuild if the rotor pack is intact and the housing has no scoring. Replace (or upgrade) if rotor clearances are beyond spec, the housing is damaged, or you're changing power targets significantly. FAS will tell you which path makes sense after inspection — we won't charge you for a rebuild if the unit needs replacement.
