Hellcat Supercharger Porting: What It Does and Whether It's Worth It

6 min read
Before and after hellcat supercharger porting by FAS Motorsports

Hellcat Supercharger Precision Porting | In-House. Dyno-Proven. FAS Motorsports.

Ship us your blower. We port it in-house, flow-bench test it, and ship it back in 3–5 business days.

No middlemen. No outsourced machining. Built under one roof at 6161 Riverside Dr, Punta Gorda, FL — the same shop that's been turning wrenches since 2002.

Platforms: 2.4L Hellcat TVS · 2.7L IHI Demon · LT4 · LSA · M122 · Audi Eaton

What Porting Does (And What It Doesn't)

Porting removes casting flash, opens inlet and outlet ports, and smooths the airflow path through the supercharger housing. Less restriction means more air moves per revolution without adding boost pressure or heat.

On a 2.4L Hellcat TVS, the biggest restriction is almost always the inlet — stock castings leave material in the airflow path that serves no structural purpose.

What it doesn't do: fix a worn blower, compensate for a bad tune, or replace proper pulley sizing. If your blower is making bearing noise or losing boost, port it after a rebuild — not before.

Platform-Specific Porting

2.4L Hellcat TVS (Charger / Challenger / Trackhawk / Durango Hellcat)

The factory 2.4L TVS is the most-ported Hellcat platform in the shop. On built motors running E85 or race fuel, inlet restriction is often the ceiling.

What FAS does:

  • Precision inlet port opening and blending
  • Rotor housing smoothing
  • Snout outlet porting
  • Flow-bench tested before ship-back

Who this is for: Hellcat builds targeting 700+ rwhp where the blower is the restriction. If you're still on pump gas below 700, spend the money on a tune first.

2.7L IHI Twin-Screw (Dodge Demon / High-Output Hellcat)

The IHI responds to inlet and discharge porting differently than the TVS — the discharge side is where most of the gain lives on this platform.

What FAS does:

  • Inlet port cleanup and opening
  • Discharge channel blending
  • Flow verification post-porting

LT4 Supercharger (C7 Z06 / Camaro ZL1)

LT4 snout porting is a documented mod for Z06 and ZL1 builds chasing 700+ rwhp on the factory blower. FAS applies the same CNC-guided process.

What FAS does:

  • Snout porting (inlet side)
  • Port blending and smoothing
  • Flow verification

How to Ship Your Supercharger to FAS

  1. Call or email before you ship — confirm platform, get current lead time, and we'll tell you exactly what to pull.

(812) 200-9012 · sales@fasmotorsports.com

  1. Pull the blower — snout porting only? Send the snout. Full inlet/discharge porting? Send the complete blower with rotors.
  2. Pack it right — wrap the snout and all port openings. Use original packaging if you have it.
  3. We port and flow-test it — precision porting and blending, verified on the flow bench before crating.
  4. Back in 3–5 business days — ready to bolt back on and tune.

Why FAS, Not a Generic Machine Shop

Generic machine shops cut metal. FAS ports superchargers — specifically — and validates the result.

  • Real platform experience (Hellcat TVS / IHI / LT4) With FAS, your blower is going to a shop that ports these exact units regularly — Hellcat TVS, IHI, and LT4 — not a general-purpose shop guessing on airflow paths they don’t see every day.
    • FAS Motorsports: Yes — all three platforms in-house
    • Generic machine shop: Varies, often none
  • Precision porting (done for airflow, not just “material removal”) FAS approaches porting like a performance build: remove the restriction, keep the structure, and blend transitions so air stays stable through the inlet and discharge. A generic shop may “open it up” without understanding where the real choke point is for your specific housing.
    • FAS Motorsports: Yes
    • Generic machine shop: Sometimes hand-ported only
  • Flow-bench verification (proof, not vibes) Porting without verification is just machining. FAS validates the result on the flow bench so you’re not paying for a look-good port job that doesn’t move more air.
    • FAS Motorsports: Yes — every unit
    • Generic machine shop: Rarely included
  • In-house work, under one roof FAS does the work in Punta Gorda, FL — no outsourcing, no middleman markups, and no mystery hands touching your blower.
    • FAS Motorsports: Yes — Punta Gorda, FL
    • Generic machine shop: Often outsourced
  • Turnaround you can plan around Your car doesn’t run without a blower. FAS is set up for ship-in performance work with a typical 3–5 business day turnaround, versus the common “it’ll be ready when it’s ready” queue at a general machine shop.
    • FAS Motorsports: 3–5 business days
    • Generic machine shop: 1–3 weeks typical
  • You can talk to a builder If you have questions about whether you should send the whole unit or just the snout — or whether porting is even the right move for your setup — you can call and get a straight answer from someone who builds these platforms.
    • FAS Motorsports: Yes — call the shop
    • Generic machine shop: Usually not

Three generations of builders. Every part machined and validated under one roof since 2002. That's not a marketing line — it's the reason FAS ranks page 1 for five porting variants with zero content optimized for it.

Questions

Do I send the whole blower or just the snout?

Snout porting = snout only. Full inlet/discharge porting = complete blower with rotors. Call before shipping.

Will this void my factory warranty?

Yes. Any internal modification voids OEM warranty. This is for builds, not stock vehicles.

What kind of gains can I expect on a Hellcat?

Depends on supporting mods, fuel, and tune. On built motors on E85 where inlet restriction is the limiter, porting removes that ceiling. We'll add dyno sheets here once published. Call the shop for a straight answer on your specific setup.

My blower already has some porting from a previous shop — can FAS rework it?

Send us photos first: sales@fasmotorsports.com. If there's material left to work with, yes.

Do you port LSA, M122, or Audi Eaton blowers too?

Yes. Call or email for platforms not listed above.
